Entry 22 // Holiday Giving

Every donation impacts the lives of refugee and immigrant women and their families at the International Women's Resource Center, where we cultivate joy and momentum through learning, support, and resources. With your generosity, you're not just giving; you're creating opportunities and fostering empowerment.

As a token of gratitude for your generosity, you will receive a tax receipt for your donation. We’ll also send a custom-designed card, either virtually or by mail, to the person you chose to honor with your donation.

Your contribution empowers these women and strengthens the bonds of community and compassion, bringing joy and momentum to their lives and, in turn, to our shared global future. Thank you for making a difference this holiday season.

  • $30: Provides one hour of English language training

Tutoring English for refugee and immigrant women in the United States is not merely an act of language instruction; it's a powerful form of citizen diplomacy. It bridges cultures, fosters understanding, and builds bonds of friendship that transcend borders. Through one-on-one or group tutoring, dedicated volunteers become ambassadors of goodwill, offering a warm welcome to newcomers and helping them navigate the complexities of their new environment. These interactions go beyond language lessons, becoming a platform for cultural exchange, where we share stories, celebrate cherished traditions, and dismantle harmful prejudices. In this context, tutoring English symbolizes unity and acceptance, embodying the essence of being a diverse and inclusive society. It reaffirms the idea that, regardless of where we come from, we can find common ground and create a more harmonious and connected world.

Additionally, it bridges the educational gap and ensures they can compete on a level playing field, overcoming the disparities in access to quality education that often exist in their home countries. Ultimately, Test Preparation Learning Resources are instrumental in breaking down barriers, leveling the playing field, and providing a clear pathway to success, helping immigrant and refugee women unlock their full potential in their adopted homeland.

These groups provide a nurturing environment where these women can connect with others who share similar experiences, challenges, and dreams. It's a space where they can find understanding, empathy, and a sense of belonging, often lacking during the transition to a new country. Support groups offer emotional support, helping women cope with the stresses of adapting to a new culture, language, and way of life. They provide a safe platform for sharing stories, offering advice, and learning from one another, easing the isolation these women may feel and accelerating their integration and empowerment. Support groups are a powerful catalyst for building resilience, self-esteem, and community among refugee and immigrant women, helping them embark on a path of successful adaptation and growth in their new homeland.
